The
Chris Conner Fund
|
On
November 15, 2001 I was told that the chapter was behind on it's
insurance payment to Nationals. I called Chris Conner '01 the current
Treasure and ask him how things were going. He stated that all was
fine and they had just sent in their Insurance premium and were
on track to get the old debt cleared up soon. Knowing the chapter
could not have raised $1,300 in a couple days, I asked Chris how
many Fund Raisers were done to pay off the debt, he said none. Further
probing I found out that Chris had taken money out of a CD that
he was planning to use for Graduation this month, but instead decided
the Fraternity needed it more.
If you are on my email list, you received a request for the brothers
to help fund Chris's money back to him. I have received $600.00.
I understand times are tough, but if we could all just send in $15.00
we can get Chris his money. Chris showed me what the meaning of
Sig Tau really is by putting the Fraternity first. We all have it,
we just need to find it. If you'd like to help, send $15.00 to the
Alumni Assoc, marked Conner Fund. It will help a brother who made
his Fraternity First. Please remember we all need to help. |

Letter From A Brother - Ken Ragle '78

Just
wanted to say how much I have enjoyed getting back with the fraternity
in the past three years. When you think about it I spent four
years of my life with a lot of these guys and it had been close
to 20 years since I had seen some of them. The times we spent
then and now are still a very important time for me. Unfortunately,
many times we ignore our past and get lost in the present day
with our busy lives that I can attest to include our children.
But for those of you that have made the journey back I think you'd
admit it was good to relive some of the old memories.
I'd
like to personally challenge all of you to mark your calendars
and make a commitment to coming back next year for Homecoming.
Get in a day early and all stay at the same place so we can spend
more close time together. Sig Tau's have always been a proud group
and represented the spirit of brotherhood in an exemplary fashion
at Concord I'm asking you to come back next year and let's get
caught up on old times. We're not guaranteed a thing beyond this
moment and I don't want to have to hear about someone dying or
being down and out without the chance to see you.
Guys, we can be a strong influence on the actives that are where
we were 25 years or so ago, but we can also be of influence on
each other. I may be able to help someone get a job, recommend
a place to vacation, let someone use my condo at the beach, or
get together to go see a ballgame. The point is we can still be
friends and provide enrichment to one another's lives, while we're
still living. I want to see you and hear you now not standing
over you or you over me in a casket wishing we had done it.
One
last thing, Alumni Dues. $50.00 a year, if you can't afford that
all the more reason to come back. By networking with the other
brothers you may be able to get a job so the $50.00 isn't a burden
and if it is we'll make some sort of arrangements to take care
of it. Just come back, you'll have a great time and feel good
about it. I guarantee it ,just ask the other 150 brothers who
have. KR

The Sigma Tau
Gamma Alpha Lambda Alumni Association is a social and professional forum
established by and for Sigma Tau Gamma graduates of Concord College. Its
purpose is to create an exchange of information, experiences and perspectives
so that Sig Tau alumni may more fully realize their individual, personal
and professional goals. Guided by an executive committee of alumni members,
the network provides opportunities for members to develop contacts, mentors
and friends among the growing number of Sig Tau graduates.
To become a member, please fill out this form.
Annual dues are only $50.00. That's less that $4.15 a month. Please take
a moment and think back over your years at Concord. We've been working hard
to bring the group back to life and with your support, we can do it.
Please remember to add Fifteen Dollars for the Chris Conner Fund.
