Hello Alpha Lambda Alumni,
Well it's been awhile since the last
newsletter and unless you have email you never hear from me.,
So, I thought I'd drop a short note to keep you updated. Remember that
homecoming is right around the corner so you'd better start making plans
now to join us on October 14th in Athens. We have twenty-three members
in our Alumni Association and below are a
list of members. I was really hoping more would have joined, as the
response to us doing this was overwhelming. I urge you to take a minute
and fill out the form on the back and become a member. At initiation
you made a lifetime commitment to the fraternity and now it is time
to step up to the plate.
Many thanks to Brother Bill Stanley '77 for his efforts in getting us
incorporated. We are in the process of filing for a not-for-profit status
and should have that finalized by summer. Thanks again Bill for getting
that accomplished.
Tony Mamone '73 has been working with a local surveyor, doing a feasibility
study of plotting off the top of Sig Tau Mountain to construct future
homesites for Alumni of Alpha Lambda. We are not sure of the cost to
get a road to the top, but proceeds from the sale of the lots will go
to pay for that and to build a new Alumni Lodge. In future newsletters
I will go more in depth of ways you can help make this dream come alive.
The house is doing ok. We currently have one Brother living in the house
as caretaker, but is having his fare share of house complaints. Hopefully
by the time you get this letter we will have two living there. The house
cannot stand many more years, so lets do our best to get it torn down.
The chapter has taken a turn for the better. Jamie Canfield is the new
President. Jamie was just initiated into the fraternity last semester,
but after talking with Bill Bernier, National President, we feel this
is what our chapter needed. Someone who can learn and have a few years
to lead the group. We'll see. So far I'm having a problem keeping Jamie
out of his girlfriends room and more accessible to everyone, but I can't
complain. He has stepped up to the plate on everything else we've asked
of him.
I'll be cutting this short as room is getting tight. Please take time
to fill out a membership
form by clicking on this link.
You may also obtain a copy from the last newsletter or visit our site
at www.sigmataugamma.com, click on
become a member,
go to file on the top of your computer and hit print. It's that easy
to join. If you are in a financial situation where at this time you
cannot participate, call me. Maybe you have some things you can donate
to the house, like, bed linens, pots and pans, yard tools. If you box
them up I will have UPS come pick them up from you and that will count
towards your dues. Please, just don't give me anything you would not
want. No stuffed squirrels or Deer Heads. It all goes towards one common
goal. Also, if you can afford it, make a pledge for a brother who cannot
or just make the extra commitment, either way, lets grow this thing
together. I'm finished but again, thanks to the brothers below for their
support.
