White Rose Garden

Doc Covey gave his formal resignation at homecoming this year, saying he just had nothing else to give and would like to step down as advisor. He said it was time for us to have a real advisor. Two years ago, I asked Doc to come out of retirement to help with the rebuilding since the advisors we had were not attending any meetings and we needed guidance. Doc obliged and I guess he'd had enough. At homecoming I wanted to honor Doc in the only way I knew how. The White Rose Garden located in Warrensburg will hold seven columns each representing our seven principles. The columns are supported by large stone blocks which are in turn supported by a very beautiful brick garden, hence the White Rose Garden. I purchased a column for Doc Covey and the Alpha Lambda chapter earlier this year. All we have to leave on this earth is our name and this will ensure Doc's name for eternity. Doc's column is dedicated in the Principle of Learning. Doc was a very big part of my life at Concord as I'm sure he was of yours. Here is a sample of what he was given. - Eric Hillman
